|
|
Why is it
important in
the
skin?
Hyaluronic
Acid or HA
plays an
important role
in tissue
hydration and
lubrication,
helping to
make skin
moist, vibrant
and supple. As
we age
the natural
Hyaluronic content
levels in our
skin deplete
leaving us
with
thinning,ageing
and drying
skin. High
concentrations
of Hyaluronic
acid are
present in
Diva
Deva
products such
as
the Power
Peptide
Serum, so
providing
intensive
moisture for
drying and
wrinkling
skin.
|
|
|
How does it
work?
Hyaluronic
Acid is a
natural
polymer that
forms
predominantly
in the
skin.When
applied either
direct to the
skin or in a
moisturiser,
Hyaluronic
Acid's water
binding
capabilities
give the skin
a natural
suppleness as
it is capable
of holding
1000 times its
own weight in
water. Because
of this the
protein can
act like an
'instant
facelift'
retaining
essential
moisture in
the skin's
layers to
reduce
wrinkles
caused by
dehydration
and
ageing.
|
|
|
How can it
help reduce
signs of
ageing?
By drawing
water into the
outer layers
of the skin,
Hyaluronic
Acid enables
effective skin
hydration,
delivery of
nutrients and
removal of
contaminants
and other
toxins. It
also
facilitates
turnover and
regeneration
of
'keratinocytes'
that decreases
the appearance
of wrinkles,
lines,
darkened spots
and other
signs of
ageing.

Acetyl
Glutamyl
Heptapeptide
|
|
|
What Diva Deva
Products
contain Acetyl
Glutamyl
Heptapeptide
|
|
|
This is an
active
ingredient in
Restore.
|
|
|
What does
it
do?
|
|
|
This more
powerful
peptide can
significantly
modulate
muscle
contraction so
prventing the
formulation of
lines and
wrinkles that
are caused by
repeated
movement. It
is especially
effective in
reducing
wrinkel
depth.
|
|
|
Tripeptide
|
|
|
What Diva Deva
Products
contain
Tripeptide?
|
|
|
This is
another of the
active
ingredients in
Restore.
|
|
|
What is
it?
|
|
|
An effcient
smoothing and
anti-wrinkle
peptide that
is
particularly
effective
against
expression
lines by
relaxing
facial
muscles. By
binding to a
receptor in
the muscle
keeping it
closed and so
the muscle
stays relaxed.
Clinical
trials have
shown that
Tripeptide is
capable of
reducing
expression
lines/
wrinkles by
inhibiting
muscle
contractions.

|
|
Pentapeptide
3
|
|
|
What Diva Deva
Products
contain
Pentapeptide
3?
|
|
|
Contained in
Restore.
|
|
|
What does
it
do?
|
|
|
A powerful yet
safe wrinkle
relaxer that
acts similarly
to curare, the
powerful
paralytic
nerve agent!
It prevent
release of
substances
necessary for
muscles
receptors to
receive nerve
signals that
cause them to
contract. So
the muscle
stays relaxed
and lines are
not
formed.

L-Ascorbic
Acid (Vitamin
C)
|
|
|
What Diva
Deva Products
contain L-Ascorbic
Acid?
|
|
|
This is the
Active
Ingredient in
C-erum.
It is at a 10%
concentration
at a lower pH
level to ease
absorption.
Suspended in a
simple
stabilizing
solution it
maintains the
effectiveness
of the Vitamin
C over
time.
|
|
|
Why is
Vitamin C
important in
skin
care?
|
|
|
It acts as a
powerful
anti-oxidant
and as part of
an anti-ageing
skincare
regime and is
the only form
of Vitamin C
that is easily
absorbed by
the skin.
L-Ascorbic
Acid helps to
protect skin
from
environmental
damage by
preventing the
formation of
free radicals.
It is also
necessary
in collagen
production and
stimulates
your skin to
produce
healthy
collagen
layers.
|
|
|
Why are
free radicals
harmful to the
skin?
|
|
|
The
environmental
impact on your
skin of
UVA/UVB
radiation,smoke
air pollution
and stress all
contribute to
the
free-radical /
oxidation
process. These
environmental
problems cause
your skin to
form free
radicals that
need to attach
to other
molecules to
become stable
- these can
include the
collagen
molecules in
the skin.The
impact of this
is the
breakdown of
the collagen
layer -
causing skin
to look old
and lose it's
elasticity and
natural
firmness.

Lecithin
|
|
|
What Diva Deva
Products
contain
Lecithin?
|
|
|
Collagen
Intensifier
|
|
|
Where does
it come from
and what does
it
do?
|
|
|
Derived mainly
from soybeans
it can also
come from egg
yolks and
corn. Lecithin
is a natural
antioxidant
with
emulsifying
and emollient
properties.
Emolients make
the skin feel
softer and
smoother,
reduce rough
feeling and
cracks and
irritation.
|
|
|
How can it
help transport
water into my
skin?
|
|
|
The different
phospholipids
in Lecithin
act as
emulsifiers
allowing
special
protein
structures to
transfer
across the
membranes of
human cells.
Because of
this ability
to penetrate
the epidermis,
Lecithin acts
as a
restorative
skin agent and
moisturiser as
it can form
into liposomes
so carrying
substances
efficiently
across the
cell membrane.
In studies
phospholipids
have been
shown to help
increase
hydration
levels in the
skin without
modifying the
water loss
rate of the
skin. One
component of
Lecithin is
phosphatidylcholine
which has a
high
percentage of
linoleic acid
(70%) and 6%
linolenic
acid Vitamin
F in Europe).
A recent
German study
found that a
shortage of
linoleic acid
increased acne
formation, and
that water
loss is
inversely
proportional
to the level
of linoleic
acid in the
skin.

Tocopherol
(Alpha-D)
|
|
|
What Diva Deva
Products
contain
Tocopherol
Alpha
D?
|
|
|
Collagen
Intensifier
|
|
|
What is
it?
|
|
|
The natural
chirally
correct form
of Vitamin E.
It is an
antioxidant
that
stimulates the
immune
system.None
chirally
correct forms
can be an
allergenic
|
|
|
How can it
help my
skin?
|
|
|
A sthe Vitamin
E content
of the skin is
decreased by
pollutants in
the air,
oxidation of
the skin is
accelerated
and this in
turn destroys
membrane
lipids that
can then lead
to skin
problems.For
this reason
alpha-D-tocopherol
is best
applied
topically to
replenish the
Vitmain E lost
directly by
the skin.

Dipolmitoyl Hydroxyproline
|
|
|
What Diva Deva
Products
contain
Dipolmioyl
Hyroxyproline?
|
|
|
Collagen
Intensifier
|
|
|
Where does
it come
from?
|
|
|
It is a
botanically
derived
substance
|
|
|
How can it
help my
skin?
|
|
|
Overall it
reuvenates
skin and
combats the
signs of
ageing by
stimulating
the
contraction of
collagen
fibres,
protects
elastic fibres
against enzyme
breakdown and
assists in
scavenging
free radicals
that can cause
a breakdown in
the
collagen layer
of the
skin.

Alpha-Arbutin
|
|
|
What Diva Deva
Products
contain
Alpha-Arbutin?
|
|
|
Light-ning
|
|
|
What is
it?
|
|
|
A pure, water
soluble
biosynthetic
active
ingredient
that promotes
lightening and
an even skin
tone on all
skin
types.
|
|
|
How is skin
colour
determined?
|
|
|
By the
interaction of
different
colourants.
The red
staining agent
of blood -
haemoglobin is
responsible
for reddisha
nd bluish
shades,
carotenoids
are
responsible
for the basic
yellow shade
of skin. Brown
colouration
results from
the pigments
eumelanin and
phaeomelanin.
|
|
|
How
effective is
Alpha-Arbutin
at lightening
skin
colour?
|
|
|
A
skin-lightening
study on 80
Chinese
descent women
demosntrated
that an
emulsion
containing 1%
Alpha-Arbutin
resulted in a
faster and
more
pronounced
skin
lightening
effect after 1
month when
compared with
other commonly
used single
components at
1% use
levels.
In a 3
month study on
26 female
volunteers 2%
Alpha-Arbutin
in a cream
formulation
minimizes
liver spots
more
efficiently
than
Beta-Arbutin.
In a double
blind in-vivo
study it could
be
demonstrated
that
Alpha-Arbutin
can reduce the
degree of skin
tanning after
UV exposure.
Stability
tests showed
that
Alpha-Arbutin
is more stable
against
hydrolysis in
presence of
skin that
Beta-Arbutin.
|
|
|
How safe is
Alpha-Arbutin?
|
|
|
Standard and
well-defined
safety testing
has been
performed on
Alpha-Arbutin
which has
proved the
product to be
safe for
cosmetic use.
The data
available do
not indicate
any
enviromental
risk. The
manufacturing
process is
designed to
meet the
criteria for
the assessment
of safety,
health and
protection of
people and of
the
environment as
set out in the
Responsible
Care
Program.
